What face to face encounter do you expect in a friendship? Have you considered
how you would respond if you were to face God? It is of accurate necessity to realize
the state of your soul condition before Him! It is a serious matter to take notice of
in attention given to what is needed in regarding to our spiritual well-being; for, one
day we will have to stand before Him and give account of how we conducted our lives.
No matter what impression one tries to bring about to another’s mind, the most
important factor is the genuine heartfelt love that can be felt by the truth of Jesus
that shines forth out of a life filled with the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the best of what
friendship offers should be a loyal friend with a steadfast prayer life centered on
intercessory prayer. It isn’t a puffed up attitude; but instead, it is an abiltity to
to comprehend the lovingkindness of God in the work of His purpose in His grand
plan for humanity. As with every situation that requires a stability required to be
successful, so is friendship, that should not be so fickle so as to jeopardize the
relationship. With a dedicated friendship centered on devotion to the Lord, one
could never go wrong. A dependable companion would be one of encouragement
and fulfillment in the love of God that is gentle yet firm in commitment. That bond
of love would be at such a depth that whether in good times or bad the display
of one’s demeanor is outstanding in the way of the Holy Spirit. There would be
a remarkable trust to confide in such a person in order for such respect to flourish
that with tears and laughter the hope of tomorrow in Jesus makes all things in this
life seem insignificant compared to what God has for us later in an eternity with Him!
Walking in the grace of God gives us a better standing today as well as an even a
brighter hope of tomorrow! So considering what true friendship is in contrast
to what it is not, we must determine to keep our focus on God’s love and what
He would have of us in terms of the Holy Spirit leading our lives in the example of
Jesus’ love in the self-sacrificial way. True friendship shouldn’t be based on a
showy intellectual presentation or a special sign based upon demand; instead,
it should hold a common bond of benevolent love with an understanding of what is
seen is based upon what God does in glory or judgment. He alone holds the
final verdict at the day He appointed! Watch “Are You A Friend Of Jesus?”,
and be captivated by the presence of the Holy Spirit at work. LaNora G. Means
