Showing sympathy in any given situation does not always mean something
negative; for, it is in this understanding that God can really move mountains of
hurt with just a little faith kindled in even the most pathetic conditions. Even
when the attention is not deserved on behalf of the one receiving the mercy
extended, God can really work within the heart and the situation to produce
a result that can be astounding. For instance, in Romans 12:20-21 (KJV), it states
“…if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing
thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be no overcome of evil, but overcome
evil with good.” Now, the human nature would desire to act spitefully in return
of being treated badly, but in obedience of the love that Jesus has shown us,
we must not allow the mistreatment toward us cause us to sin by retaliation.
Instead, we are to overcome it by showing good in the love of Jesus with our
actions in response; and that, in turn, causes something inside of a person’s
mind and conscience to see with true awareness of how one should act and
the true example shown on the part of the one extending that kindness that is
given although not deserved. This correlative passage also stands with truth in
the wisdom of Proverbs 25:21-22. For even as what a rewarding behavoir is,
so a rewarding behavior does. For Jesus says to us in Matthew 5:7 (NIV),
“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” If we desire of
own lives of every affliction and hurt to be looked upon with help, we too
must show that example if we truly want to be divinely blessed by God.
We must also realize that if we want God’s divine blessing upon our lives
in peace with Him in the forgiveness that He offers and live productively
in the authority of The Holy Spirit’s presence upon our lives, we must resign
ourselves to His grace through Jesus and trust in the compassion that
continually works even when life gets tough. In the times of trouble, we
can completely rely upon God to deliver us from all troubles that
confronts our lives with His blessing of forgiveness upon us as we forgive
others for what they have done to us. We can pray with a victory that
sees results, for God is in control! Watch “A Forgiving And Delivering Mercy”,
and may God open up your heart with a love beyond yourself. LaNora G. Means
